LOBBY WITH US IN JEFFERSON CITY
I'll DRIVE!

Numbers Matter!  Please let me know if you might be available with a day's notice to lobby Jefferson City on some of the issues cited below.  I will be glad to drive.  Call or e-mail me so I can contact you when I hear our presence is needed.  Below are some of the hot issues that will come up in the new session beginning in January 2008.  We must be the driving force to see that pressing problems for us and America are resolved as quickly as possible.
1.  NAU:  In the last session, there was a NAU Resolution which passed the committees in both the House and Senate but was not brought up for a vote.  The feeling is that this Resolution would have easily passed both the Senate and the House of Representatives.  The bill was called SCR33 in the House and SCR15 in the Senate. The description is found below.  Representative Jim Guest is working this summer to get the NAU Resolution prefiled in the House.

SCR 15 - This resolution urges Congress to withdraw the United States from any further participation in the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North American and any other multilateral activity which seeks to advance the creation of a North America Union. The Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America founded March 23, 2005, by the heads of state of Canada, Mexico, and the United States, was born in response to what some see as the evident necessity for the North American contingent to take new steps to address the threat of terrorism and to enhance the security, competitiveness and quality of life of their countries' citizens.

2.  IMMIGRATION: Several immigration reform bills were introduced last session, passed through committees, but were not brought up for a vote.  Because of the climate of the immigration issues, Missourians will be pressing their legislators to enforce the rule of law as it applies to illegal aliens - no benefits, no hiring, no harboring, and enforcement of law.
3.  PROPERTY TAX ASSESSMENTS:  Representative Jim Lembke and Walt Bivins are working on the property tax assessment issue.  They are holding meetings.  They hope to pre-file a bill on this in the next session.  They would appreciate your comments and ideas.  As we have recently seen, numbers matter.  Citizens who are unhappy with the present tax assessment systems need to call and let their views known.  The letter I received from Representative Lembke is attached in case you would also like to contact him on this issue.
